Study plan for students of first year - soon to choose

The students enrolled in the first year of Data Science must choose their plan of study of the coming second year (academic year 2025-26).
In these days teachers of the courses to choose are visiting your regular classes of the spring term to describe the content of the course that they will teach next year.
Take advantage of these visits! ask questions! get informed!

The choice of the study plan will be possible from the student portal starting May 15th until June 30th.
Please make a note about these dates because the 'window time' will be strict!

You will have the following choices to make:
a) Curriculum. Your choice is between 'Data Analysis" and "Data applications". You may confirm the curricculum that you have chosen at the time of enrollment or change it.
b1) Choice of one first supplementary course from this list:
- Accounting Information System (fall term)
- Big Data Sensing Compression and Communication (spring term)
- Cloud computing and Big Data (spring term)
- Data Analysis for public Health (spring  term)
- Multimedia data modeling (fall term)
- Time series for dynamical systems (spring term)
- Research design and data analysis in political sciences (spring term)
- Behavioral economics (spring term)
- High Tech Markets, Industrial Organization and Growth (fall term)
b2) Choice of one second supplementary course form this list:
- Accounting Information System (fall term)
- Behavioral economics (spring term)
- High Tech Markets, Industrial Organization and Growth (fall term)
- Research design and data analysis in political sciences (spring term)
c) Choice of two elective courses among those in the lists above or among any other courses offered by Catania University, as soon as they are coherent with the learning objectives of the Data Science degree (the Course Council will have to approve these choices).

Please notice:
- Courses in the lists above will be offered ONLY if there will be at least 5 students enrolling into them. Decision about which course to activate will be made in July 2025. If you choose a course that cannot be offered you will be required to change your previous choice.
